STORIES WE NEVER TELL is among a series of projects for Women of Parramatta, a partnership between Parramatta Female Factory Memory Project and PYT Fairfield. A cross-cultural collaboration that challenges entrenched practices, it was planned to be a series of performative walking tours featuring new works by PFFP founder and artist Bonney Djuric OAM and the PYT Ensemble. STORIES WE NEVER TELL explores the Parramatta Female Factory Institutions Precinct through the marks and memories of its former occupants, the children of the Roman Catholic Orphan School and Parramatta Girls Home. Storytellers, including former residents of the Parramatta Girls Home, Stolen Generations, Forgotten Australians and artists, would activate this historic precinct through their personal and familial experiences to redefine the space with resilience, celebration and women’s activism.
Once the NSW Government had made gatherings and cultural events of this size disallowed, this event which was to be presented as part of the Biennale of Sydney, could not go ahead.
