We invited Nicci Wilks to dream up, attempt and document an Impossible Task. She chose to go in search of a live audience in lockdown.
RUNT
Year the project commenced: 2019
Year it became impossible: 2020
Number of audience not reached: 800 in the first planned season, which was reduced to 200 for the rescheduled November season.
Patricia Cornelius, Susie Dee and Nicci Wilks are the co-creators of RUNT; they have worked together, extensively, for many years, have an energetic and vigilant approach and are practiced in creating theatrically exciting and innovative work. That ethic kept them developing and refining the show through the the first 2020 COVID lockdown. At that stage it seemed the planned November premiere of their show would go ahead. RUNT was to premiere at fortyfivedownstairs, but when a second wave of the virus sent Melbourne into a stricter lockdown that began to seem doubtful even with the planned audience reduction to just 50 people. "RUNT is about the runts of the world: the lesser, the unwanted, the weak, those without clout, the insignificant.” It's about one small woman's attempt to take power, to lead the oppressed, to rise up and fight, for equality, for decency and what's right.” Wilks and the team are fighting to get RUNT out of the impossible basket. That is, despite an uncertain opening date (Febuary 2021 is rumoured) and restrictions that have meant none of the physicality in this very physical project has yet been developed.

NEW TASKS AND IMPOSSIBLE OUTCOMES ARE BEING ADDED EVERY WEEK. COME BACK SOON.
